UW’s mission is: Helping people, changing lives, making every contribution count. UW works to bring the whole community together to create long-term, lasting change in conditions like poverty, lack of education, and isolation. UW is a caring force of individual and corporate community investors and volunteers dedicated to helping people live with opportunity, hope and the support of their communities in time of need.

Bend Chamber Of Commerce - Nonprofit Council comprised of all 120+ nonprofit members of the Chamber and exists to represent the interests of the nonprofit membership. The Nonprofit Council's mission statement is “To promote sustainable economic vitality for both nonprofit and for-profit organizations, and to celebrate and recognize the nonprofits’ work and their supporters in the business community.” The group's focus in 2007 consists of collaboration (between nonprofit organizations, as well as with the business community), membership issues, visibility for the nonprofit community, and developing best practices.

Community Action Directors of Oregon Community Action Agencies (CAAs), formerly called Community Action Programs (CAPs), came into existence with President Johnson's "War on Poverty" and the adoption of the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. CAAs were the first social service agencies to involve the lower-income people as members of their Board of Directors to help set policies, design programs and evaluate services intended to reduce or eliminate the causes and conditions of poverty.

Each Community Action Agency uses a community-based needs assessment to develop advocacy and service priorities that provide services designed specifically for their own community. The activities and services vary by agency, depending on the needs of the community, local resources, and the opportunities for collaboration and partnership with business, private non-profit organizations and state and local government.
